Fundamentals of Telehealth

(in partnership with the International Medical University, IMU)

Equipping healthcare professionals with the knowledge and skills to deliver telehealth services more confidently.

Course Summary

Telehealth has risen in importance, especially after COVID. However, only 9.3% of surveyed doctors say they have High or Very High Confidence in Telehealth (survey by Angsana-IMU in 2022). Therefore, Angsana is partnering IMU to deliver Malaysia’s first Fundamentals of Telehealth (FOT) Micro-credential (MiC) programme.

Unique Features of the FOT MiC:

  • Malaysia’s first educational programme targeting telehealth principles and skills.
  • This 6-week, fully-online course has live virtual sessions and self-paced modules, designed for Healthcare Professionals, by HCPs.
  • Live virtual sessions are held during weekday lunch hours to accommodate busy HCPs.
  • International faculty, including practitioners from Australia and Singapore.

With a focus on independent learning and practical application, this programme will serve as a launching pad for healthcare professionals seeking to enhance their knowledge of telehealth.

10 CPD points are claimable at the end of this course.

This module addresses the challenges and opportunities of technology adoption and implementation strategies for a digital health service based on examples from routine healthcare practices. The latter covers the clinical utility of telehealth and components of a telehealth consultation, including patient selection, preparation for a consultation and e-prescribing.

This module introduces how to assess the patient, establish rapport and build a therapeutic relationship online, demonstrating how telehealth can complement and enhance routine care practices. Follow-up, step- up and emergency plans are discussed.

This module introduces a series of videos on how to conduct history-taking and physical examination remotely in the cardiopulmonary, abdominal, and neurological, dermatological, and ENT systems.
